报告人简介:Petri Pellikka is a professor of geoinformatics at the Department of Geosciences and Geography in the University of Helsinki, Finland. He received his MSc in 1992 from the University of Helsinki and carried out his PhD studies at the University of Munich finalizing his thesis in 1998. He has carried out post doc studies in Canada at Carleton University and visiting scientist periods at Cambridge University, Lund University and University of Canterbury in New Zealand. Since 2002 he has led research programme on remote sensing of land cover changes in Africa, mainly in Taita Taveta in SE-Kenya, where he is the director of the Taita Research Station of the University of Helsinki. His group studies impact of land cover changes caused by cropland expansion and conservation to water resources, carbon stocks, biodiversity and livelihoods, applying satellite data, hyperspectral remote sensing and laser scanner data. Working with environmental scientists he also plans adaptation methods for climate change impacts on agriculture and livelihoods.
